Solid CAD models or polygonal meshes can interact with point cloud environments to produce collision data in our specialized software. Pathways for equipment installation or removal can be mapped with ease, allowing problem areas/lack of proper egress to be found.
Our client was rebuilding a platform in a busy process area. They wanted to ensure that the crane could fit and angle itself properly, and lower steel beams without damaging nearby equipment. Our team scanned the site and the crane, and were able to calculate crane locations and arm angles to client required clearances.
In this example, we show what collision detection looks like. Red dots will flash where solids are interacting with the point cloud (in this case a collision). We can manipulate the solids to find the optimal path for your equipment.
